About the cooling method of the turbocharger,every turbocharger is based on oil-cooled.Turbine blades are immersed in oil during operation, and the oil has a cooling effect while lubricating. Air cooling means that the cooling method of the intermediate is air convection cooling. Water cooling means that the intermediate has water channels, and when the engine is started, the water will flow through the intermediate to take away heat.


How the cooling system works?

Due to the large thermal load of the turbocharger, a cooling water jacket is installed on the turbine side of the intermediate body of the supercharger, and is connected to the engine's cooling system through a hose. The coolant flows from the coolant inlet on the intermediate body to the cooling water jacket in the intermediate body, and then flows back to the engine cooling system from the coolant outlet. Coolant is continuously circulated in the cooling water jacket of the intermediate body to cool the supercharger shaft and bearings

Why do turbochargers need cooling?

"Heat soakback" is an important cause of turbocharger damage. When the engine is running and oil flows through the turbocharger's bearing system, most of the heat transferred is absorbed by the oil, preventing damage to the bearings and oil seals. If there is insufficient cooling, both the bearing system and the oil seal system may be damaged by overheating, reducing the life of the turbocharger
