Refone Casting materials for the turbine housing

The life of a turbocharger can be affected by such factors as thermal cracking, fatigue and/or creep. The requirements for these highly stressed casting components rise as the unit size and performance capability increase.

The turbine housing is of key importance here, as it is placed under extremely high thermal stress and is also the most expensive component due to its size, complexity and material. The caster is confronted with thin housing walls, highly elaborate to fine structures with high temperature gradients within the component, and frequent temperature changes during operation.

QT450:Ductile cast iron not only has good mechanical properties, but also oxidation resistance. This material is a excellent material for producing turbocharger housing with lower thermal load.

QTRSi4Mo:This material is called Silicon molybdenum Ductile iron, this material is better than QT450 and is of withstanding higher exhaust gas temperatures of up to 7capable 60 Celsius.

D5S: Ni-resist Type D5S, a highly castable austenitic ductile iron containing 36%Ni, 5.3%Si, 2%Cr, provides the required combination of properties.

Stainless steel:This housing has more temperature capability than a traditional iron casting turbine housing. Except benefit for better heat control, stainless steel housing won’t rust.

Years of experience and the use of state-of-the-art design and simulation methods are necessary to meet different requirements.

QT450 and QTRSi4Mo are the two most commonly used materials for Refone Turbo, and D5S and stainless steel casings are also available for customization.
