How To Test VNT Turbo?

29 Apr 2019

Modern turbochargers always use a VNT type design, also known as a variable geometry, which can prevent your turbos over-speeding and causing serious damage. The turbo shaft speed is controlled by a nozzle ring and vanes which direct air to the turbo turbine wheel. As turbo shaft speed reaches optimum speed, the turbo vanes open and allow exhaust gases to pass around the turbine wheel and not through the turbo blades.

The market is currently saturated with a large and growing number of misdiagnosed turbo faults,  so how to test a VNT turbo in order to get a qualified VNT turbo?

Refoneturbo has introduced the uniquely designed VNT flow bench to do the work of VNT turbochargers' calibration and testing. Our VNT calibration bench will test and calibrate not only the Minimum Flow, but will also test and calibrate turbo Maximum Flow. This will make sure that not only is your new turbo or CHRA operating at the correct engine RPM, it is also never over boosting.

Finally, if you need advice on selecting the right and high quality aftermarket turbos and turbo components, we are always happy to help. For further information on any of our products or services, you can follow our official website: www.refoneturbo.com.
