How A Turbocharger Improves Performance?

27 May 2019

How does turbocharger improve performance for cars? Here Refone will share the theory with you, please see the paragraphs below, hope it helpful to you.

By using the energy that would be lost by a naturally aspirated engine, turbocharger is able to push extra oxygen into the cylinders of your diesel engine, allowing them to burn more fuel each second and thereby boosting power at higher speeds.

Since turbocharging an engine makes it more efficient, upgrading the design doesn’t actually increase its size. By adding a turbocharger, the power-to-weight ratio is raised to the equivalent of a gasoline unit, while the proportions of the engine remain just as compact as before.

Turbo engines are primarily run by exhaust gases, which reuse the by-products an aspirated engine would allow to go to waste. Diesel burns at a lower temperature than gasoline, so it produces a greater amount of exhaust gases. By increasing air flow, the pressure in a diesel engine is raised, employing intelligent use of these extra fumes, and thereby creating a much more powerful engine.

Finally, the ability to reuse these gases gets the most from the fuel being burned, improving fuel economy significantly. It is widely observed that a gasoline engine runs quieter than its diesel counterpart, but the introduction of a turbocharger can decrease noise and vibration, too.
