Do these things to prove that you know how to drive a turbocharged car

Nowadays, many family models are equipped with small-displacement turbocharged engines. However, the speed of popularization of engine knowledge is not as fast as the use of turbocharging, leading many people to drive turbocharged cars as naturally aspirated cars, inadvertently causing a lot of damage that we are not aware of.For the characteristics of turbochargers, if you don't even know the following three points, it means you really don't know how to drive a turbocharged car well.

After running the engine at high speed for a long time, you should keep it idling for 3-5 minutes before turning off the engine and stopping. The reason is that during the engine operation, part of the oil is used for lubrication and cooling of the bearings in the turbocharger. After the engine stops working, the oil pressure quickly becomes zero, the high temperature oil stays between the turbocharger bearings, and the heat is not cooled, and after the engine is turned off, the turbo blades will still keep running at high speed for a while due to inertia, so the oil left in the turbo bearings may cause some damage to the bearings due to the high temperature. Over the years, this is bound to affect the life of the turbocharger.

The topic of whether or not to warm up the car is enduring, with the current engine and filter technology, it does not matter if the car is not warmed up, but for turbocharged models, it is still necessary to warm up the car, especially in the cold winter, should continue to idle for a period of time after the car is on, so that the oil can have sufficient time to lubricate the rotor and bearings in the turbocharger. Do not start after the big foot on the throttle, which may not be in place because of lubrication, dry wear will lead to turbocharger oil seal damage, loss of sealing.

Don't turbochargers need extra maintenance?
We all know that the minor maintenance of the car is to replace the "three filters", namely the oil filter, gasoline filter and air filter. The turbocharged engine has stronger requirements for the cleanliness of the intake air. With the continuous improvement of oil quality, the conventional 5000 km a maintenance can be constantly postponed, but for the turbo engine, in the small maintenance cycle on time to clean the air filter is necessary, so as to prevent the dust in the air and other impurities into the turbo, resulting in unstable blade speed or other seals to accelerate wear.

For various reasons need to disassemble the turbocharger to repair the car, must remember to keep the joints sealed to prevent debris into the turbo. In addition, the lubrication system will make the lubrication oil partly coke due to high temperature, so it is also a good car habit to clean the pipeline lines in the lubrication system regularly.
